On Saturday, June 17, Eddie Denkin will ride 75 miles to defeat ALS…
I’ve had a couple of injuries over the past 5 years or so. Okay, maybe more than just a couple … but they’re nothing compared to what an ALS patient and his or her family endures.
I’ve ridden in many charity bike rides, but this year, I’m riding with The ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter to fight ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and hope you’ll join me. The Ride to Defeat ALS is highly organized, scenic and safe, and the money I raise will be used to provide programs and services for ALS families, as well as fund important ALS research. As a dentist, I understand basic science research and know how costly it can be — and I know every dollar I raise makes a difference! My high school friend, Lynn, is married to a man suffering from ALS so that inspired me even more. Everybody has their own inspiration and I’m proud to ride with them.
One of the best parts of the ride is that you can chose to ride 75, 50, 25, or 10 mile routes, and all rides end at Morey’s Piers in Wildwood, NJ. There, all cyclists receive 2 free bands for lunch and all rides, and Water Parks are free at Morey’s Piers on either Saturday or Sunday — what a great finish!
Huge thanks to some generous family members and friends who have made donations on my behalf, and continue to show their support for me year after year, event after event. If anyone would like to make a contribution, or if you want to get involved and ride, click the link below. Thanks very much!
I expect the ride to be a great experience, enjoying the scenery of South Jersey under a hopefully clear, bright blue sky. I’m looking forward to riding in the company of friends at a leisurely pace. For me, it’s not about how fast I can pedal, but simply that I and everyone else make it safely to the finish line. I feel a responsibility to the people who have made donations on my behalf, and to the families coping with ALS I am striving to help. The end-of-ride lunch and tickets to Morey’s Piers are just icing on the cake! Join me by donating or registering now at www.als-express.org
