Milestone: Recognizing The Jefferson Weinberg ALS Center as an ALS Association Certified Treatment Center of Excellence

--

On July 27, 2018, The ALS Association and the team at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA held an event to recognize the Jefferson Weinberg ALS Center as an ALS Association Certified Treatment Center of Excellence.

This certification is a strong validation for the quality care and groundbreaking research being conducted every day by the professionals at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Approval happens after a rigorous process from The ALS Association. Click here to learn about all of the professionals who make up this clinic team.

This is the checklist of requirements that must be met before a clinic can be approved as a Certified Treatment Center of Excellence by The ALS Association.

This center would not be possible without the strong support of Vickie and Jack Farber. Vickie Farber spoke about her own ALS connection and motivation to put an end to this disease. The Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience opened at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 2002.

Vickie Farber lost her father to ALS and her mother to Alzheimer’s disease.

The research at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is lead by Piera Pasinelli, PhD. and Davide Trotti, PhD. The clinic team is lead by Dr. Goran Rakocevic, MD.

The ALS Association is proud to partner with Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Jefferson Weinberg ALS Center. Together we will find more ways to support all of the needs of people with ALS and their families.
